yes it is true the core I7 processor definitely uses more power, that’s why most laptops use the core I5 processor.
the core I5 runs cooler as well, but does not have the processing capabilities of the core I7.
Looking at getting a Dell XPS laptop and having a hard time figuring out which process to get.
I can get either:
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i5-2520M processor 2.50 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.20 GHz
or
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM processor 2.20 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.10 GHz.
I have looked up and read threads and also went to Intel to compare but still left uncertain to which one to get. I use my laptop mainly for watching movies, web browsing, word processing/spreadsheets (nothing heavy or fancy) and I play World of Warcraft. Any insight on this would be helpful.
I would recommend the second-generation core I five, because everything you listed that you plan on doing with your laptop can totally be accomplished with the core I5, and is less expensive.
No use spending extra money on something you don’t especially need.
